Birds, Planes and Trains (hold the trains)

So I haven't written for a small while because my life has been full of all sorts of things which make me feel extra lazy upon completion. Examples of this are, studying, exams and sleep.

None the less, this university term is almost finished and I thought it would be appropriate to talk about some of the interesting thing (that's right, singular) I've done this term. Since just after Christmas I had a crazy idea that learning to fly would be a good idea, because, well why not. So after a few hours of flapping my arms unsuccessfully I read up on the internet about prices and time it would take to get a private pilots licence and peoples experiences while learning and all sorts of things.

I eventually summoned up the courage to go for a trial flying lesson, to determine if this was something I would get addicted to or be completely afraid of. Since I was afraid of heights and turbulence was not my favourite thing, it could quite easily go either way.

None the less I provide you with pictures of my day, there was not a lot of time to take pictures while in the air, as from when we levelled off at 2000ft I flew the plane the entire time until we were on the final approach.

Landing

Anyway so I've decided flying is a silly idea. I'll buy a boat instead.

I've been taking pictures of other stuff too, Hannah and I went to feed the ducks yesterday, which turned out to be a duck and lots of swans. So take a look at my other pictures too.

We had a lunar eclipse here yesterday, and I didn't manage to get any good pictures of it, but I did manage to get some pictures of my garden in orange. Awesome.

Well that's about all for now, I will post again at some point with less pictures and more intellectual prose about the meaning of life, the universe, and why I've spent 37 hours playing Final Fantasy XII.

Merry Birthday, Get well soon, or some such

oh that's right, Merry Christmas. Tis indeed the day to be jolly. You might be wondering why I'm posting on this day of days instead of bonding and watching silly things on TV while my 9000 calories digest, and choose their appropriate places to lodge themselves around my physique. It is indeed because one of my lovely presents was a camera. And so without further adieu I give you many pictures from my Christmas at my brother's house today :)

Father Christmas & Tree :)

Mom & Candle :)

Graeme & Janet :)

Luke (CAT) :)

Pretty Candle :)

Not too shabby for my first camera, maybe I'll be the next Herman Potgieter :)
New toys are fun! So anyway this concludes my blog post for Christmas day. I hope everyone is in the best of festive spirits and getting sufficiently fat.

Toys are fun

Hello all...

So anyway, brilliant news, I've been offered a job by a company called FactSet for a graduate position when I've finished university next july. Which is awesomegreat. It is pretty much everything i wanted, such as living and working in the middle of London, earning lots of money, and programming. It is really nice not having to worry about what I am going to do after university which is something everybody starts to worry about at this stage of University. So to everyone that doesnt know what they are going to do. naa na na naa na :-)~.

Yea so cool, I've also recently started to play World of Warcraft, I've always known it would be a fun thing to do, but been wary of all the people i know saying that I shouldn't get into it because it becomes all you do all day all the time and you lose your friends, family and home. Well, yea it's done all that and more. Hannah thinks I'm all -10 vs. social now (JOKE). It is a wonderful piece of Blizzard entertainment greatness. For anyone that cares (and i doubt there will be many) i'm now a level 25 Night elf Hunter with a pet called pookums.

So it's the end of term, and I'm going to be packing my car for about 28 hours tomorrow, and driving back home and unpacking my car for another 92 hours and just as I find everything I will have to pack again and come back. I'm looking forward to not being a nomad after university. Although as I was in Southampton all summer on an internship, I am looking forward to being back in Canterbury where my parents can look after me and feed me and my bank balance can stop taking abuse for the 3 weeks I have off. I say that, except it's definitely not true as it is Christmas! and we all know what that means. I get some great new toys to play with.
Talking of toys, we had a house Christmas meal last weekend, it was awesome, meat, pigs in blankets, vegetables (yea and I even ate them and everything), gravy, yorkshire puddings, and it tasted lovely. Props to Hannah and Sophie for making all the food and Tim for cutting the chicken up and to me for not really being useful at all and playing with the camera :).
Anyway, you might be wondering what this all has to do with toys.. Well we did a cheap secret Santa, and I received this. I appropriately regressed to the relevant age and proceeded to play with it for a while, it blinks and walks and makes silly noises and everything! Amazingness.

Anyway, I MUST GO PLAY WOW, or something.

Hello to you

Well, considering a lot of people that I haven't spoken to in a long time might read this...

Im in my final year of BSc Computer Science at the University of Southampton, and it's going well. As a student, I'd like to say I don't do very much and have all the time in the world to sleep, but this year they seem to want to make us work or something. I spend a lot of my days geeking it in front of my computer, doing various courseworks and projects. In 2 weeks time my 3 week christmas holidays start. Most people would be really happy about this but alas that is when the real work starts, I have 6000 words of essay, a conference and a coursework due the week after the holidays. The coursework is building a whole world in openGL and learning all of openGL (for anyone that doesnt know what that means, it means about a million hours of work). So yea... cool.

Anyway other than that life is good, I have friends and a girlfriend and a social life and stuff, which already puts me ahead of most of the people on my course.

I've also been playing guitar for about a year and a half, which is what I spend some of my time doing when I'm not geeking it or or watching copious amounts of 24 and prison break.

A Picture of my WMDs

Guitars are brilliant, so I'm going to talk about mine. I'm in a guitar mood as I received the one second from the left from the lovely ebay yesterday. It's one humbucker pickup gives it a fat chunky sound, which I will be using to play all sorts of beautiful riffs. Also one of the reasons I bought it was because I can't be bothered to tune my other guitar up and down half a step every time I want to play along with a different song. One thing I can say about that guitar is that I won't be making any pretty music with it. I will leave that up to the single coils of my green guitar, because they make pretty music.

Anyway enough about guitars... naa just enough about everything, I'm not sure what the point of this post was but I think there was a point, somewhere...
